KathyP11:
In any case, on "Law & Order: SVU" last night (a great source, I
realize), it was said that the Q'ran states that all
people are equal. Is that true?
RKC: Kathy, The Qur'an states from creation
all of mankind are due "mutual rights".
004.001
O mankind! reverence your Guardian-Lord, who created you from a
single person, created, of like nature, His mate, and from them twain scattered
(like seeds) countless men and women;- reverence Allah, through whom ye demand
your mutual (rights), and (reverence) the wombs (That bore you): for Allah ever
watches over you.
RKC: In Muhammad's(p) Last
Sermon he said,
“All
mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a
non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over
a black nor a black has any superiority over a white - except by piety and
good action."
RKC: I believe this was said in support of the below ayats from the Qur'an.
032.018
Is then the man who believes no better than the man who is
rebellious and wicked? Not equal are they.
041.034
Nor can goodness and Evil be equal. Repel (Evil) with what is
better: Then will he between whom and thee was hatred become as it were thy
friend and intimate!
045.021
What! Do those who seek after evil ways think that We shall hold
them equal with those who believe and do righteous deeds,-
that equal will be their life and their death? Ill is the judgment that they
make.
040.058
Not equal are the blind and those who (clearly) see: Nor are
(equal) those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, and those who do
evil. Little do ye learn by admonition!
035.008
Is he, then, to whom the evil of his conduct is made alluring, so
that he looks upon it as good, (equal to one who is rightly guided)? For Allah
leaves to stray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. So let not thy soul go
out in (vainly) sighing after them: for Allah knows well all that they do!
