Interpreted from Ishaq's "Sirat Rasul Allah" and  Oxford's "The Life Of Muhammad"
This is an agreement from Muhammad the Prophet, between the Believers of Quraysh and Medina, and those who followed them and joined them
and laboured with them. They are one community to the exclusion of all men.


  • The Emigrants, shall pay the blood money within their numbers and shall treat their prisoners like with kindness and justice common among
    believers.

  • The Banu 'Auf, shall pay the blood money and every section shall treat their prisoners with the kindness and justice common among
    believers. This applies to the Banu Sa'ida, the Banu 'l-Harith, the Banu Jusham, the Banu al-Najjar,  the Banu 'Amr, the Banu 'Auf, the Banu al-
    Nabit, and the Banu al-'Aus as well.

  • The Believers will not leave anyone destitute among them by not paying his redemption money or blood money in kindness.

  • A Believer will not take as an ally a man who is against another Muslim.

  • The Believers will oppose the rebellious, those who spread injustice, sin, enmity, or corruption between Believers. Every man will oppose
    them even if it is against his own son.

  • A Believer will not kill a Believer for the sake of an Unbeliever, nor will he give aid to an Unbeliever against a Believer.

  • Any of the Believers may give protection to strangers.

  • Believers are friends with no outsiders to come between them.

  • The Jews will be given help and equality. He will not be wronged and his enemies will not be helped.

  • The peace of the Medina will not divided, even when fighting in the way of God.

  • Conditions must be fair and equitable to all during peace and war. A rider must share with another during combat.

  • The Believers must avenge the killing of one another shed in the way of God.

  • The Believers receive the best and most upright guidance.

  • No pagan shall take the property of from the Quraysh under his protection and will not take their side against a Believer.

  • Whoever murders a Believer is liable unless the next of kin receives blood money. The Believers will be one and are bound to take action
    against him.

  • It is not lawful to a Believer who holds by what is in this document and believes in God and the last day to help an evil-doer or to shelter
    him. The curse of God and His anger on the Day of Resurrection will be upon him if he does, and neither repentance nor ransom will be
    received from him.

  • Whenever there is a disagreement, it must be taken to God and Muhammad.

  • The Jews will pay part of the cost associated with war when they are fighting alongside the Believers.

  • The Jews of Banu 'Auf are will be one community with the Believers. This applies to their freedmen and their families, except those who
    behave unjustly and sinfully. The same applies to the Jews of Banu al-Najjar, Banu al-Harith, Banu Sa'ida, Banu Jusham, Banu al-Aus, Banu
    Tha'laba, and the Jafna, a clan of the Tha'laba and the Banu al-Shutayba. Loyalty is a protection against treachery. The freedmen of Tha'laba
    as themselves. Those close friends of the Jews are as themselves. No one is allowed to go to war without the permission of Muhammad, but
    he shall not be prevented from taking revenge for a wound.

  • He who kills a man without warning kills himself and his house, unless it be one who has treated him unjustly, for God will accept that.

  • The Jews must pay their costs and the Muslims their costs. They must help each other against anyone who attacks the people of this
    agreement. They must seek mutual advice and consultation, and loyalty is protection against treachery.

  • A man is not liable for his ally's misdeeds.

  • The wronged must be helped.

  • The Jews must pay with the Believers as long as war lasts.

  • Medina will be a sanctuary for the people of this agreement.

  • A stranger with protection under this agreement may not commit a crime.

  • A woman will only be given protection with the consent of her family.

  • The Quraysh and their allies will not be given protection.

  • All in this agreement, will defend Medina if it is attacked. If the Muslims are called to make peace, the Jews must do the same. If the Jews
    are called to make peace, the Muslims must do the same, except if it is a holy war.

  • All under this agreement will have the same standing.

  • Loyalty is a protection against treachery.

  • God approves of this agreement.

  • This agreement does not protect the unjust and the sinner.

  • A man who goes to war and the man who stays at home are safe unless he is unjust and sinned.

  • God is the Protector of good, God-fearing men and Muhammad is the Messenger of God.
